Our Favorite Cleaning Products & How We Use Them
We’re often asked which products we use and how we get things so clean—without damaging delicate surfaces like marble, granite, or hardwood. The secret is in our thoughtful, layered approach. We believe in deep cleaning that’s effective but also respectful of your home’s materials and finishes. Not every job needs the harshest product—sometimes, a gentle homemade cleaner or just water with a bit of soap brings out a perfect shine.
It’s kind of like your favorite pair of Levi’s: if you toss them into a heavy-duty wash every time, they’ll lose their color, softness, and shape. But with the right care—spot cleaning when needed, fresh air, and a gentler cycle—they stay beautiful and last longer. We treat your home the same way: preserving the life and look of each surface while still making everything feel fresh and truly clean.
We approach each surface with care and intention, starting with the least abrasive method and only working up if needed. For example, on stainless steel, we have a three-level process and always begin with the mildest—if it leaves the surface sparkling, there's no reason to go harsher. But when something calls for more muscle, we have the right tools and products to handle it safely.
We don’t use bleach except for mold removal, as we believe in minimizing harsh chemicals in your home. Our goal is always to keep your environment safe and healthy while delivering the best clean possible.
Think of it as the difference between polishing and scrubbing: both clean, but one preserves beauty for longer. Your home deserves that level of attention. It’s how we keep everything not just clean—but glowing, healthy, and built to last.
🧼 Floors (Especially Wood)
Tools & Products:
Microfiber mops
Homemade cleaning solution (diluted in water)
Bona wood floor polish
Bona Refresher
Step-by-step:
Vacuum floors and baseboards first to remove dust and hair.
Fill a bucket with water and dilute the homemade cleaning solution. We always test products on a small hidden section first, especially for wood or laminate floors.
Soak Microfiber A, wring it out well (wood doesn’t like excess water!), and clean the floor.
Rinse with Microfiber B, using clean water only—again, well-wrung.
Clean Microfiber B, wring, apply Bona, and mop again for shine.
Rinse again, wring well, apply Refresher, and do a final pass for protection and extra glow.
💎 Granite, Marble, Tile (Kitchen & Bath)
Product:
Microfiber cloths
Homemade cleaning solution (diluted in water)
Weiman Granite & Stone Cleaner, Polish & Protect
How we do it:
Wet cloth with our homemade cleaner, wring well, and clean countertops or tile. We never use vinegar or citrus-based cleaners on marble or granite—they can etch and dull the surface. We use pH-neutral, stone-safe solutions only.
Use a separate cloth with clean water to rinse off. Repeat if needed.
Dry surface with a clean towel.
Apply Weiman product to a cloth (not the surface) and polish in circular motions.
Flip cloth and buff for shine.
✨ Stainless Steel Surfaces
Products:
Homemade cleaning solution
Bar Keepers Friend Spray + Foam Cleaner
Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner
🚽 Bathroom Surfaces
Products & Uses:
Method Bathroom Cleaner: Showers, tubs, sinks, toilets
Zep Mold Stain Remover: Tile and grout (for mold from yellow to black stages)
Disinfecting Wipes: For unsanitary messes (e.g., feces, pet accidents)
How we do it:
For mold, let Zep sit on grout lines before scrubbing to break down stains. Some deep cleans can take up to 2+ hours for thorough results.
🪞 Glass & Mirrors
Products:
Our homemade glass cleaner
Commercial glass cleaner (stronger than your grocery store products)
How we do it:
Clean with homemade cleaner, then buff with commercial glass cleaner for a streak-free shine.
🌿 Wood Furniture & Trim
Product:
Howard Orange Oil
How we do it:
Wipe wood with cloth and homemade cleaner first.
Use a new cloth, spray a small amount of orange oil.
Rub into wood using circular motions to distribute evenly.
Buff until wood shines (not greasy).
🪑 General Surfaces
Product:
homemade cleaning solution (diluted in water)
Mrs. Meyer’s Multi-Surface Cleaner
🍳 Kitchen Grease & Grime
Products:
Homemade kitchen degreaser
Method Heavy Duty Degreaser
Non-scratch sponge
Warm water
How we do it:
Apply degreaser to stovetops, ovens, or grills and let it sit briefly to break down grease.
Scrub with a non-scratch sponge, then rinse with warm water for a spotless finish.
🔥 Grills & BBQ Parts
Product:
Stainless Steel Grill Cleaner (Magic)
How we do it:
For tough grease, we sometimes seal grates in a plastic bag with cleaner to let it break down grime before scrubbing. Otherwise, we use the least abrasive product and clean.
For flame-touching parts, we apply the product, scrub gently with a brush, and immediately rinse—these parts are delicate and can lose color if product sits too long.
Our Commitment to Eco-Friendly Practices:
We minimize waste by using reusable tools, such as microfiber cloths and mop pads, which help reduce the need for paper towels or disposable wipes. Our goal is to clean your home efficiently while maintaining our eco-conscious values.
